The AFL Fantasy Optimal Season Long Lineup seems to be starting to get some consistency from week to week with only four changes after Round 7. A Brownlow Medal fancy loses his spot after a sub par Round 7, a Fremantle Docker makes his first appearance for the year and a Tiger ruckman succumbs to suspension.
For those unfamiliar with the premise of this exercise, what we are tracking is the best possible 22 that could have been afforded pre Round 1 lockout in AFL Fantasy from a scoring standpoint. This particular lineup would have cost you $9,800,000 which would have allowed you to pad your bench with $150,000 rookies (not that you would have needed to use any).
Our goal is to find the best possible scoring side by season’s end without having to use any trades or bench players. The only change the coach would have theoretically have had to do each week is change the captain.
For those interested in the lineups from previous weeks, these can be found here:
Moving on lets look at the ins and outs from the team this week:
|Rory Laird (ADEL) – DEF||Sam Docherty (CARL) – DEF|
|Zach Tuohy (GEEL) – DEF||Jake Lloyd (SYD) – DEF|
|Bradley Hill (FRE) – FWD||Toby Nankervis (RICH) – FWD|
|Tom Rockliff (BL) – MID||Rory Sloane (ADEL) – MID|
This team has scored a total of 16952 (Round 1 – 2396, Round 2 – 2394, Round 3 – 2373, Round 4 – 2453, Round 5 – 2491, Round 6 – 2429 & Round 7 – 2416) over the first seven rounds at an average of 2421.7. The captain for each week is highlighted in the table as green.
If you started with this team you would be comfortably ranked No 1 in Australia by a margin of 1478 fantasy points. And the best part, you wouldn’t have used any trades!!!
