For those of you following this series of posts you’ll be familiar with what we have been doing here at @DFSAustralia, however, for those that haven’t we’ll summarise the philosophy behind this team. What we are tracking is the best possible 22 that could have been afforded pre Round 1 lockout in AFL Fantasy from a scoring standpoint. This lineup would have cost you $9,794,000 which would have allowed you to pad your bench with $150,000 rookies (not that you would have needed to use any).
Our goal is to find the best possible scoring side by season’s end without having to use any trades or bench players. The only change the coach would have theoretically have had to do each week is change the captain.
For those interested in the lineups from previous weeks, these can be found here:
Moving on lets look at the ins and outs from the team this week:
|Curtly Hampton (ADEL) – DEF||Jake Lloyd (STK) – DEF|
|Toby Nankervis (RIC) – FWD||Christian Petracca (MELB) – FWD|
|Joel Selwood (GEEL) – MID||Tom Mitchell (HAW) – MID|
|Brad Ebert (PORT) – MID||Andrew Gaff (WCE) – MID|
|Brodie Grundy (COLL) – RUC||Brayden Preuss (NMFC) – RUC|
This team has scored a total of 12368 (Round 1 – 2311, Round 2 – 2555, Round 3 – 2531, Round 4 – 2422 & Round 5 – 2549) over the first five rounds at an average of 2473.6. The captain for each week is highlighted in the table as green.
If you started with this team you would be comfortably ranked No 1 in Australia by a margin of 1146 fantasy points.
