So the first three rounds are in the book and plenty of us will have used up our trades trying to fix the errors we had in our initial side or covering for injuries that we’ve sustained in the early rounds, heres looking at you Max Gawn.
But what if you hadn’t needed to use any trades at all because you nailed the optimal lineup from the get go? What does that team even look like I hear you ask? Well we’ve got it here for you. Presenting the AFL Fantasy optimal lineup for the first 3 rounds of the season.
The 22 below would have left you enough cash at the start of the season to pad your bench with 8 x $150,000 rookies. The team has scored a total of 7622 (Round 1 – 2549, Round 2 – 2458 & Round 3 – 2615) over the first three rounds at an average of 2540.7. The captain for each week is highlighted in the table as green.
If you started with this team you would be comfortably ranked No 1 in Australia by a margin of 709 fantasy points.
Note that no consideration has been given to trades between rounds or moving players on and off the bench, this likely would produce a slightly different side with a slightly higher score. This side is simply the best scoring 22 money could have bought prior to Round 1.
